Lead Course Tutor

Kartika plays a central role in shaping and delivering the Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy. She facilitates learning through lectures, tutorials, supervision and skills practice, ensuring students are supported professionally and personally. Kartika also provides one-to-one guidance to students, oversees tutor coordination and contributes to course policies, materials and assessment processes — maintaining high academic and ethical standards across the programme.

Kartika is a qualified Psychotherapist, an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Doctoral Candidate in Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of Edinburgh. Her work is informed by a strong commitment to decolonial and psychosocial approaches to counselling education. Her research and teaching interests include decolonial theory, race and identity studies, relational psychodynamic practice and critical engagement with training practices.

Previously, Kartika has worked as a Tutor at the University of Edinburgh, also supporting students as a personal development mentor. As a practising Psychotherapist, she has extensive experience supporting survivors of gender-based violence.
